MARBLE Block VI, VII & VII: Parthenon SOUTH frieze

Marble relief from the South frieze of the Parthenon. The frieze shows the procession of the Panathenaic festival, the commemoration of the birthday of the goddess Athena.

Block VII shows parts of three horsemen, clad in a short tunic. The surface of this block is badly damaged and weathered.

Block VIII shows parts of three horsemen, two of whom wear a chlamys draped over a short tunic. Metal reins, which are now lost, were inserted in drill-holes. The surface of this block is badly damaged and weathered.
